Quotes from Artists

In preparing for my presentation this weekend, I compiled some quotes from artists. Some are favorites I came across before, but most were new to me.

The quotes relate to the aspects of teaching like an artist that I have highlighted throughout previous posts.

Letting life shine through and coming alive:

“I am not a teacher,
            but an awakener.”
               - Robert Frost

Getting a vision, working to make it real:

"Don't bury your thoughts;
    put your vision to reality.
      Wake Up and Live!"
                - Bob Marley

"Talent is cheaper than table salt.
What separates the talented individual
from the successful one is a lot of hard work."
                -Stephen King

"You can't get there by bus,
     only by hard work
     and risk
and by not quite knowing what you're doing.
What you'll discover will be wonderful.
What you'll discover will be yourself."
                 -Alan Alda

Share the work:

    "Share what you love,
and the people who love the same things
   will find you."
-Austin Kleon (from Show Your Work)

Reflect, raise questions and learn from everything:

    "Computers are useless.
They can only give you answers."
                   -Pablo Picasso

"He not busy being born
     is busy dying."
                     -Bob Dylan
